Kleinmundo Looks to the DataDirect Data Integration Suite for Fast and Easy ASCII to XML Conversion
DataDirect XML Converters® Allow Kleinmundo to Expedite Legal Document Automation and Grow its Market Tenfold
BEDFORD, Mass. – May 11, 2009 – DataDirect Technologies, the unparalleled leader in data connectivity and mainframe integration and an operating company of Progress Software Corporation (NASDAQ: PRGS), today announced that Kleinmundo Solutions, a provider of data transformation and automation technology and services for the legal market, has embedded the DataDirect XML Converters® product into its Datalenz application for high-performance conversion between ASCII streams and ready-to-use XML. As a result, Datalenz can now support raw data coming from leading financial systems and quickly generate reports and invoices in standard formats such as Microsoft Word or Excel and Adobe Acrobat PDF files.
Datalenz is a high-performance document creation and conversion technology which includes advanced spreadsheet, text files and HTML capabilities. It takes information coming from various sources of output – typically a law firm’s financial system – to generate invoices and other reports in standard office formats. What traditionally takes days to do manually, or hours for other document automation technologies, takes Datalenz only seconds.
Kleinmundo initially targeted a market of approximately 60 clients within North America using XML feeds as the incoming source stream on a new financial management system. The company quickly realized that Datalenz could satisfy the needs of a much larger market if the product could also accept data from older systems in the form of ASCII streams.
After evaluating a number of technologies available and conducting rigorous test scenarios on each product, Kleinmundo selected the DataDirect XML Converters from DataDirect Technologies due to the product’s proven accuracy and speed. An integral component of the DataDirect Data Integration Suite, DataDirect XML Converters are high-performance Java™ and .NET components that provide bi-directional, programmatic access to virtually any non-XML file including EDI, flat files, and other legacy formats. Using DataDirect XML Converters, organizations can seamlessly stream any non-XML data as XML to industry-leading XML processing components or to any application.
“In order to support our superior customer service mandates and meet new market expectations, our selection criteria was very clear – the product needed to be fast, accurate, easily embeddable, support high-volume processing and be able to run within our existing architecture and server environment,” said Patrick Langlais, president of Kleinmundo. “DataDirect XML Converters excelled on each of these requirements. By embedding the .NET components into the Datalenz product we estimate our market has grown tenfold and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.”
DataDirect XML Converters support major vertical industries and technical standards for B2B integration. With support for standards-based SAX, StAX, XmlReader, XmlWriter, XMLReader, DOM and I/O streaming interfaces, DataDirect XML Converters can be embedded directly for transformation purposes or as part of a chain of processing including XSLT, XQuery and inside XML pipelines. As part of the DataDirect Data Integration Suite – a bundled offering that includes DataDirect XQuery®, DataDirect XML Converters and Stylus Studio® in one simple, highly flexible and robust installation – DataDirect XML Converters plug into the DataDirect XQuery product, an enterprise-grade XQuery processor that supports the W3C standard and allows data to be easily transformed, aggregated and enriched – providing seamless integration for relational, XML and flat file types. “With the DataDirect Data Integration Suite organizations can create highly scalable data conversion and integration products that can quickly react to changing business and partner requirements,” said Dr. Carlo Innocenti, senior XML program manager for DataDirect Technologies. “Kleinmundo is one of a growing list of DataDirect customers who have been able to expand into new markets and position itself for immediate and future growth.”
