Two emerging standards, OpenDocument Format (ODF) and Office Open XML (OOXML), are gaining popularity (and originating several fights in standard bodies). Although neither ODF nor OOXML creates a clear separation between data and presentation, both standards have adopted XML, which means that you can finally use standard XML tools, like XQuery, to query your office documents! A new article by Marc Van Cappellen describes in detail how to query your office documents using XQuery.
This Halloween we've got a few tricks up our sleeves – XQuery Tips & Tricks! Our latest XQuery learning resource features the most common questions from our customers. Check out these spook-tacular tips and tricks today. And if you have an XQuery question that you'd like answered, send it to us — We'll respond and add it to the list. Happy Halloween!
While XML is growing as a B2B data exchange format, EDI and XML will co-exist in B2B scenarios for some time to come. According to a recent report, "B2B Integration Trends: Message Formats", by Forrester Research, enterprise architects should plan for an infrastructure that supports both. The report recommends adopting a strategy that utilizes the new XML-based alternatives to enhance existing EDI formats. Read the complete report for all the details.
"With DataDirect XQuery we were able to reduce code complexity, simplify code maintenance and improve performance and scalability," said Juan Carlos Alfonso, senior software engineer at Core Computer Group. "What once took 50 Java classes and 150 SQL statements was reduced to just a single Java class and seven XQueries using the DataDirect XQuery product."
We've expanded the XQuery eXtra to encompass news about DataDirect XML Converters. Your new XML eXtra will continue to bring you all the latest news about XQuery, and it will also provide up-to-the-minute information on XML-related standards and technologies — like SOA and Web services — and how best to leverage them in the constantly evolving data integration.
With our latest release of this powerful XQuery processor, you can now update relational data, visually analyze query plans, integrate with Web services, execute XQuery faster than ever before using enhanced document projection and streaming technologies, and so much more.
It's official. The XQuery 1.0 specification is now a W3C Recommendation. And XQuery is already hard at work in real world, commercial applications. Find out what Clara Sagan, a Senior Product Engineer at RLPTechnologies, had to say about how they're using XQuery, and why.
Simplify XML, Relational and Legacy Data Integration using powerful XQuery technologies and DataDirect XQuery®. A new technical overview of DataDirect XQuery® by XQuery co-inventor Jonathan Robie describes how to get started, and why you should care – read on for more information.
DataDirect XQuery® is available now. It's faster than ever — you can now access truly massive XML files (we're talking gigabytes in size here), and it's more extensible too — now you can use XQuery to query relational databases, XML files, and dozens of flat file formats like EDI, CSV, binary, and more.
A study written by ZapThink concludes that DataDirect Technologies' XQuery offers companies the means to win out at long-lived data integration challenges because it leverages the power of standards, allowing the user to determine the runtime infrastructure.
There is one month left in the beta program and we are still interested in learning about how you are using DataDirect XQuery® in your products and architectures. We are glad to offer advice to help you. Please contact the beta coordinator to set up an appointment. And if you have a technical question, send an email to our tech support team.
Welcome to the first edition of The XQuery eXtra - a resource designed to provide useful information about DataDirect XQuery® and the underlying technologies of XQuery and XQJ. You are invited to attend "Getting Started with DataDirect XQuery®", a webinar designed to help you get started using the product quickly.
