Home:Company:Industry Events:XQuery Workshop XML & XQuery Workshop for Data IntegrationBuilding Data Services Providing Access to Heterogeneous Data Sources – SOA has been around for a number of years earning acceptance as a solid approach for systems management – one that allows for the broad reuse of existing software assets, provides a sound architectural model for the federation of disparate IT systems, and supports the automation of abstract business processes via a range of programming paradigms. But how does data management fit in? Guidelines for service-oriented data access and management techniques (data services) are sparse. Those that are available have typically been formulated by SOA experts, not data management experts. As a result, different understandings of the same problems turn into a constant source of confusion and headaches. This workshop introduces an approach to data services based on XML and XQuery and is based on a typical scenario where a hypothetical IT organization needs to create a set of data services exposing various functionality. The workshop covers:
During this hands-on workshop we will be writing, testing and deploying a real XML and XQuery-based solution live in front of the audience. Architect TutorialsInnovations for Software Architects The Chicago, DC and Houston XML & XQuery Workshops are held directly following the DataDirect Architect Tutorials. Please take a moment to read more about the Architect Tutorials and register to attend. SOA ResourcesTutorials & ExamplesHL7 – HL7 2.x is EDI-based, 3.x is XML-based, and the concepts are different. This example shows how to go from one to the other. X12 – DataDirect XML Converters are able to handle X12 and many other EDI dialects easily, managing and converting X12 transaction sets, segments, elements, and code lists to XML. MySQL – Users with MySQL database deployments (Enterprise version) can now take advantage of all the benefits of DataDirect's XQuery engine. XQuery and ACORDLearn how DataDirect XQuery is being used to help the insurance industry develop and manage applications that must adhere to ACORD standards for the insurance, reinsurance, and related financial services industries.
